There is no substitute for a third row of seats; it’s an absolutely vital piece of equipment in all sorts of scenarios. It’s so undeniably useful that Hyundai offers several 7-seat models. To help you choose which of these would suit your needs best, we put together the following guide.
2026 Hyundai Santa Fe

Starting at $34,800 MSRP*
Legroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) - 44.4 inches / 40.6 inches / 30 inches
The Santa Fe is a design marvel, squeezing the absolute most interior space out of a practically-sized exterior. Hyundai designed the third row for children, but the first and second rows are more than spacious enough to comfortably accommodate adults. The Santa Fe is powered by a potent 2.5-liter turbocharged engine that produces 277 horsepower and 311 lb-ft of torque. An advanced 8-speed automatic transmission comes standard, and all-wheel drive is available. The third row of seats folds flat for ample cargo space, and even with the seats up, the underfloor storage tray provides a bit of extra space that you won’t find in competitors. With tons of safety features and a towing capacity of up to 4,500 pounds, the Santa Fe makes for a surprisingly stylish way to take a family road trip.

Starting at $39,435 MSRP*
Legroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) - 44.2 inches / 43 inches / 32.1 inches
The most legroom of any three-row Hyundai model is found in the Palisade. In fact, the Palisade is spacious enough that it is the only Hyundai model to offer an 8-seat configuration (although most trims come with 7). A one-touch sliding second row of seats comes standard, and makes getting in and out of the third row easier. There is also an in-vehicle intercom that makes communicating easier for everyone. A standard V6 provides 287 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque, allowing the Palisade to tow up to 5,000 pounds. All-wheel drive is available, and opting for it adds Mud, Snow, and Sand driving modes. Highly advanced features like navigation-based smart cruise control make family road trips as safe and relaxing as they are comfortable.

Starting at $58,955 MSRP*
Legroom (1st row / 2nd row / 3rd row) - 41.4 inches / 42.8 inches / 32 inches
The IONIQ 9 is one of the only three-row electric vehicles on the market, and one of the most affordable of those that do exist. The IONIQ 9 is very similar in size to the Palisade, but with even more futuristic styling. The interior is tech-forward, and seats 7 in comfort, with available heating and ventilation for both the first and second row of seats. There are several different drivetrain configurations available, with power outputs ranging from 215 horsepower up to 422 horsepower. Higher power outputs don’t impact range as much as you’ve probably come to expect, with the most powerful drivetrain still able to deliver 311 miles on a single charge, compared to 335 miles for the base model. The IONIQ 9 is a remarkable achievement as both a three-row SUV and as an electric vehicle.
