About the Hyundai Sonata
The Hyundai Sonata became a mainstay of the midsize sedan market very quickly, thanks to its comfortable interior and ride, excellent versatility, and unbeatable value for money. The Sonata is offered with a choice of three drivetrains, including a high-performance turbocharged engine and a hybrid. All-wheel drive is available too, so even poor road conditions won't prevent you from enjoying what the Sonata has to offer. Hybrid models can achieve up to 51 mpg on the highway as well, so in addition to the outstanding initial value of the Sonata, day-to-day use won't strain the wallet either. Or if you prefer a bit more excitement, the N Line turns up the performance significantly, and offers a ton of visual enhancements to go with it.
What the Critics Say
"All Sonatas come with a long list of standard features, including driver-assistance tech that's quickly become a requirement for new-car buyers, and their pricing makes them very good values. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Hyundai Sonata has also earned a spot on our Editors' Choice list for 2025." - Car & Driver
"From distinct styling to reassuringly long warranties, the Hyundai Sonata hits the target in so many ways. It comes with plenty of standard equipment, has achieved impressive safety scores, and build quality is great. Over seven generations (this one debuted for 2020), the Sonata has evolved into a superb sedan. If more convincing is required, just take a look at our glowing owner reviews. Hyundai never disappoints us with its new vehicles, and it sure isn't starting now." - Kelley Blue Book
What's New For 2025
As they have done with other models, Hyundai dropped the Convenience Package from the SEL trim in order to make the SEL Convenience its own trim. It's the same thing that the SEL with the package was last year, it's just such a popular option that upgrading it to a trim made sense.
Hyundai Sonata Features

Versatile Performance
The Sonata comes with a peppy standard engine that's mated to an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission, and the result is a smooth and responsive driving experience. But Hyundai gives you several other options as well, for those with more specific tastes. The standard engine produces 191 horsepower and sends it to the front wheels, but the SEL trim gives you the option of all-wheel drive instead. If you're looking to make fewer stops at the gas station, the hybrid drivetrain option delivers almost identical horsepower, 192 in total, while simultaneously returning a combined 47 mpg. If it's more power you're looking for, the N Line adds a turbocharger to the 2.5-liter engine and boosts output to 290 horsepower. This comes with a dual-clutch transmission and sport-tuned suspension, a modified performance-oriented power steering system, and a whole slew of visual enhancements, including a unique interior.

Unbeatable Equipment
The Sonata is a standout for both standard and available equipment in a highly competitive segment. While other manufacturers treat big and easy-to-use touchscreens as optional extras, the Sonata comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen with Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay® as standard equipment. To help you make the most of this is the available Bose® premium audio with 12 speakers that delivers an impressive listening experience. Things like the standard hands-free smart trunk release give the Sonata an even bigger advantage over the competition, but it's in the area of standard safety equipment where the Sonata is absolutely unbeatable. This includes features like Smart Cruise Control (SCC) with Stop & Go, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian/Cyclist/Junction Turning Detection (FCA-JT), Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA), and Safe Exit Warning (SEW) that you're not going to find as standard equipment on the competition.

Sophisticated Styling
Hyundai has been a style leader for many years, with a design language that's bold, distinct, and incorporates the latest tech. Styling updates also happen more frequently with Hyundai than with competitors, so the looks of the Sonata never get stale. Adding to the appeal are desirable features like an available panoramic sunroof and up to 19-inch wheels. Inside, there are three available options for upholstery materials, including genuine leather and microfiber inserts for the N Line seats. Additional N Line styling features include a unique grille, gloss black side mirrors and window trim, dual exhaust, aluminum sport pedals, and a unique steering wheel. But whichever trim you go far, the sophisticated and futuristic styling, inside and out, gives the Sonata a special feel, one you would generally associate with something much more expensive.
