Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

About The Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

With its attractive starting price, high level of practicality, and exceptionally good looks, the Hyundai Tucson has become incredibly popular. Yet Hyundai still found a way to improve on it, in the form of the Tucson Hybrid. The Tucson Hybrid retains all of the things you already love about the Tucson, but throws in a more powerful drivetrain as well as significantly improved fuel economy. The price is very similar to the conventional model, which is a rare enough feature that the Tucson Hybrid is one of the most affordable hybrid SUVs on the market. Hyundai is also uncommonly good about giving vehicles frequent updates, so all of the latest and most advanced tech available can be found in the Tucson Hybrid.

What the Critics Say

"While the Tucson's five-passenger SUV blueprint is competitive in standard form, the Hybrid and PHEV models offer a superior blend of power and efficiency for not a whole lot more money while still managing to be a couple of the most affordable electrically assisted compact SUVs currently available. As one of our favorites in its segment, the Hyundai Tucson has also earned a spot on our Editors' Choice list for 2025." - Car & Driver

“This small SUV delivers good mpg, a comfortable ride, and lots of standard technology features. The Tucson Hybrid delivers more than you'd expect for its price and is an SUV we'd highly recommend.” - Edmunds

What's New For 2025

The Tucson Hybrid got a mild redesign for 2025, which included a new grille, new bumpers, and a few other exterior tweaks. Inside, the infotainment screen has grown by a couple of inches, and there is an available 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster. But despite the bigger screens, Hyundai brought back redundant physical buttons for the most-used functions like HVAC controls. There is a new Baby Mode, which softens the throttle response so that a sleeping baby in the vehicle won’t be disturbed. Lastly, the drivetrain has gained a bit more power.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Features

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid

Advanced Hybrid Drivetrain

Efficiency is generally the first thing that you think of in connection with hybrids, and the Tucson Hybrid certainly delivers in this area, with a combined 38 mpg rating for both city and highway. But that’s not all, the hybrid drivetrain is also noticeably more powerful, producing 231 horsepower and 271 lb-ft of torque. That’s 44 more horsepower and 93 lb-ft more torque, more than enough for you to easily feel the difference. The Tucson Hybrid fares well compared to other hybrids as well. While this is most obvious in the price, there are other important differences. For example, the Tucson Hybrid comes with a six-speed automatic transmission, while its competitors usually employ a numb-feeling and droning CVT. It even has a 2,000-pound towing capacity, which is great for any kind of drivetrain in a compact SUV. Lastly, the standard all-wheel drive is certainly a standout feature.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Interior

Stylish Comfort

Hyundai is certainly a style leader across the whole product line, and it’s impossible to miss that the Tucson Hybrid is the best-looking vehicle in its segment. To go with the good-looking exterior is a comfortable and well-equipped interior. Standard features include things that would cost extra in competing vehicles, including heated front seats, a wireless charging pad, and dual-zone automatic climate control. There is even a remote release for the rear folding seats, an uncommon feature that gives practicality a big boost. The infotainment touchscreen is big and easy to see and use, but Hyundai included redundant physical buttons for things like climate control in order to make it easier and safer to operate. If you’re looking for a more performance-oriented look, the N Line trim comes with all sorts of unique features, including unique 19-inch wheels, sport pedals, and unique sport seats and steering wheel.

Hyundai Tucson Hybrid Remote Smart Parking Assist

Advanced Technology

The most obviously advanced feature of the Tucson Hybrid is the hybrid drivetrain that delivers both superior fuel efficiency and impressive power at the same time. But there’s much more to the technology in the Tucson Hybrid than that. The hybrid system is built with e-Handling technology, which works with the HTRAC All Wheel Drive system and the Traction Control system to deliver power from the electric motor where it’s needed for extremely precise handling. The Bluelink+ suite of connected features comes standard, and lets you do things like unlock the doors, start the engine, and even activate the seat heating or ventilation if equipped. If you find yourself in a tight parking situation, the available Remote Smart Parking Assist lets you step out of the vehicle and move it forward or backward using the remote, a huge help when someone parks too close in a garage.
