Performance
Though Hyundai offers this hybrid in three trims, they all have the same engine. The Tucson comes with a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 226 horsepower. That gives you more power than other hybrids do. This all-wheel drive SUV also has a 1.49-kilowatt battery that charges via any 240-volt outlet. Equipping the Tucson Hybrid with trailer brakes can tow up to 2,000 pounds around the Berea area.
Even without those brakes, you can still tow 1,650 pounds. The hybrid SUV also helps you get a combined 38 miles per gallon. Using just the battery gives you a range of 33 miles around Independence, OH.
Technology
You'll find technology all around the interior of the Tucson Hybrid. Use Android Auto with your phone or Apple CarPlay with your iPhone to get directions and other towns or to receive text messages. HD radio and satellite radio come standard on all models with a free trial from Hyundai. The eight-inch infotainment system on the base model is just one option.
With the other trims, you get a 10.25-inch infotainment system. On-board navigation is also available on the higher trims. You can also use your radio to view traffic alerts.
Interior and Exterior
The interior and exterior of the new Hyundai Tucson Hybrid have some nice features. Each trim has wheels of 16 to 19 inches, LED headlights, daytime running lights, and LED turn signals. Available in multiple colors, the SUV has side mirrors in the same color. These mirrors are also heated. Climb inside to find cloth, leather, or H-TEX upholstery and heated power seats in the front.
The base model includes a 4.25-inch instrument panel, but the higher trims have a 10.25-inch digital instrument panel. Hyundai added wireless charging and two USB ports, too.
Trim Levels
The most affordable trim is the Tucson Hybrid Blue, which also serves as the base model. With the Blue trim, Akron drivers get some handy tech and safety features like blind spot collision monitoring and smart cruise control. The smart cruise control lets you maintain your speed as you stop and move. A digital key also comes with the Blue. Some of the other features found on the two higher trims include:
- SEL Convenience: panoramic sunroof, H-TEX upholstery, and 60/40 rear folding seats
- Limited: remote smart parking assist, blind spot monitor, and surround view monitor.
Each Tucson Hybrid includes forward collision assist, pedestrian detection, and rear traffic collision avoidance, along with other features that are part of the SafetySense system.
