There are a lot of factors that go into deciding which vehicle is right for you. While some of these are a matter of taste, towing capacity is easy to list and compare with a simple and straightforward guide, so that's exactly what we put together here. Because with a lineup as extensive as the one offered by Hyundai, it's good to have the help. And we should note, not every Hyundai model is rated for towing, we've just listed those that are.
Hyundai Towing Capacity Guide

Hyundai Santa Cruz Towing Capacity
The Santa Cruz is part SUV and part truck, offering highly practical solutions to a wide variety of situations. One of the few small pickups available in the US, the Santa Cruz is big on practicality, and towing is certainly a component of that. For the most part, the towing capacity on the Santa Cruz is quite straightforward, the trims that come with the more powerful turbocharged engine have a higher capacity, but there is one exception that doesn't really fit into the chart. That is the SEL Activity trim, which comes with the non-turbo engine, and in standard form has the same towing capacity as the other non-turbo trims. But with the optional all-wheel drive, the SEL Activity has the same towing capacity as the turbocharged trims. It's the only trim where opting for AWD changes the capacity.
Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Towing Capacity |
2.5-liter | 191 | 181 lb-ft | 3,500 pounds |
2.5-liter Turbo | 281 | 311 lb-ft | 5,000 pounds |

Hyundai Tucson Towing Capacity
The Tucson is an immensely popular model, thanks to its attractive price and incredible versatility. Available with a wide variety of trim, a purely gasoline-powered drivetrain, a hybrid drivetrain, or a plug-in hybrid drivetrain, it's incredibly easy to get your Tucson outfitted exactly the way you want it. And making it even easier still is the fact that all of the trims and drivetrain options all have the same towing capacity, so you never have to choose between a higher towing capacity and a different feature that you want. Whatever you need to do, there is a Tucson that's just right for the job.
Drivetrain | Horsepower | Torque | Towing Capacity |
Gasoline | 187 | 178 lb-ft | 2,000 pounds |
Hybrid | 231 | 271 lb-ft | 2,000 pounds |
Plug-In Hybrid | 268 | 271 lb-ft | 2,000 pounds |

Hyundai Santa Fe Towing Capacity
The Santa Fe is well known for maximizing interior space to give all three rows of seats a comfortable and spacious experience. But the Santa Fe doesn't just haul people, it has an impressive towing capacity as well. The Santa Fe is available in both gasoline and hybrid form, with the more powerful of the two providing the higher towing capacity as you would expect. But there is once again an exception to this rule, in the form of the XRT trim of the non-hybrid Santa Fe, which comes with an additional 1,000 pounds of towing capacity.
Drivetrain | Horsepower | Torque | Towing Capacity |
2.5-liter Turbo | 277 | 311 lb-ft | 3,500 pounds |
2.5-liter Turbo XRT | 277 | 311 lb-ft | 4,500 pounds |
Hybrid | 231 | 271 lb-ft | 2,000 pounds |

Hyundai Palisade Towing Capacity
As the only Hyundai vehicle with a standard V6 engine, it should come as no surprise that the Palisade offers a superb towing capacity. As the biggest vehicle in the Hyundai lineup, most people tend to focus on the interior space. This is understandable since seating for up to 8 is certainly impressive, but there is a lot more to the Palisade than just seats. All trims of the Palisade offer the same towing capacity, which is good, since the trim lineup is quite extensive, and factoring in towing capacity when deciding which one is right for you would be a lot to ask.
Engine | Horsepower | Torque | Towing Capacity |
3.8-liter | 291 | 262 lb-ft | 5,000 pounds |
